Hanro of Switzerland backed driver Jade Edwards, travels to Darlington’s Croft circuit this weekend (8/9 September), determined to end her season on a high as the Ma5da MX5 Championship visits the notorious 2.25 mile layout to conclude the 2012 season.
Maidenhead’s Edwards, the 22 year-old daughter of former Renault Clio Cup Champion and BTCC racer Jim Edwards Jnr, endured a difficult weekend last time out at Northamptonshire’s Rockingham Motor Speedway, as clutch and gearbox issues halted her charge for a podium showing over the course of the weekend.
The renowned racer, who has stepped onto the podium numerous times throughout the duration of the year, still proved her worth in the one-make championship to gain a top six finish, despite having to contend with continuing clutch woes in race one of the weekend.
Looking ahead to her trip to Croft, a circuit that is also renowned for hosting the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship, Edwards remains optimistic of ending her season on a high with her strongest showing of 2012.
“Rockingham was quite disappointing for us because of the clutch and gearbox issues that we suffered, but that’s all behind us and I’m looking forward to racing at Croft.” Explained Edwards.
“I raced here last year in the championship and ran inside the top ten over the course of the weekend, so I’m hoping to use my knowledge of the circuit to really push for some strong results this weekend. I’d really like to leave there with some podium finishes under my belt.”
